Heather

Kuceba
Seattle-Area Real Estate Agent

Who are you, and what do you do? What do you like to do outside of work?

Hey y’all! I’m Heather Kuceba, a residential real estate agent in the greater Seattle area of Washington State. I’m all about educating my clients so they feel informed and confident, and (dare I say) they have a little fun along the way. Buying and selling real estate is stressful enough; I try not to be.

Outside of work, I’m a bit of an enigma: equal parts nerdy, geeky, silly, athletic, tomboy, girly, and friendly. I love paddleboarding and kayaking in the summer, lifting weights, getting humbled in hot sculpt yoga, learning about nutrition, obsessing over ergonomics, and playing with my two pups: Light (a seven-year-old Beagle) and Rem (a two-year-old Pit mix rescue).

You’ll also catch me watching anime (yes, the dog names are references to one in particular) or listening to a polyJAMorous music playlist that gives the average person whiplash. Imagine driving to work and hearing a hard rock song, followed by K-pop, then indie, then pop, then dubstep, then piano, then whatever else sparks joy in the moment.

What hardware do you use?

Since I wear approximately 1,259 hats as a real estate agent, I need equipment that can keep up. My core setup includes an LG UltraWide monitor (for all the multitasking), a Lenovo Yoga 9i (for bouncing between contract writing and marketing designs), Bose speakers (for jamming to heavy dubstep one minute and soft piano the next), and a Logitech Brio camera (for client calls and CE classes). A Dell dock makes it all talk nice around the campfire. I navigate with my Logitech vertical mouse (for my wrists, which protest traditional mice) and of course, my beloved Moonlander. Then there’s my Larq bottle (aka my emotional support hydration vessel) and my Stimagz (aka my ADHD’s emotional support fidget).

All of this sits on my black-glass L-shaped desk, which resembles a perfect blend of hardworking professional and “tornado touched down midproject.”

And what software?

I am a Windows + Google girl, but I utilize a rotating cast of software and programs to run my business and my everyday life.

Cloze CRM is my second brain for remembering birthdays, addresses, “what was their kid’s name again?”, and all things drip campaign. Adobe, Canva, & Studeo comprise my design & marketing trifecta. ChatGPT is my marketing manager, copy editor, and crisis-prevention assistant (so I don’t sound like a total nincompoop). Plus too many others apps to name or remember.

Bonus shoutout to Home Assistant and UniFi. It’s my husband’s nerd domain, but I still get to enjoy the smart house magic.

What’s your keyboard setup like? Do you use a custom layout or custom keycaps?

Aside from keeping the standard QWERTY layout for the letters, everything else is fair game. I tweak my layout constantly—so much so that I even updated it while writing this. At this point, looking down at the keycaps confuses me more than it helps.

Needless to say, blank keycaps were on my holiday wish list this year. Sadly, though, no one in my circle understands my descent into keeb-dom, so I had to play the role of ZSA-Santa for myself.

Switchwise, I am still using the Kailh Coppers that I got with the board—just enough click with light, snappy feedback. I haven’t had the time to explore the vast world of switches yet, but I’ll fall down that rabbit hole eventually.

Layerwise, I mostly live on a well-oiled layer 0, but I have built out a numpad on Layer 1 that color-codes the numbers and symbols. I have plenty more ideas circling around my brain, but I’ll let Future Heather work those out.

What would be your dream setup?

I have big dreams for my office, my desk, and my Moonlander.

My office: We built a house a few years ago, but my office is still a “work in progress” (read: the unbuilt closet system has been sitting on my floor collecting dust for the last year+). But for now, imagine a dark color palette with bright accents, wood touches, and a moss wall. I have floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking a small lake, and I want to bring some of that cozy, outdoorsy energy inside.

You can get this office together, Heather!

My desk: I want a monitor arm and laptop stand to free up precious desk real estate. And maybe one day I’ll actually build that closet system so that I have more space for shenanigans.

My Moonlander: You already know that blank keycaps are next on my list. After that, I am eyeing a tenting system like ZSA’s “The Platform” to continue dialing in those ergonomics. I used to hit 80 WPM on a mildly ergonomic keyboard, and I am determined to perfect my setup and inch my way toward the 120+ WPM legends that I see in the ZSA newsletter. One day I’ll get there!
