Sophia Wood
Artist, Educator, EngineerWho are you, and what do you do? What do you like to do outside of work?
I am Sophia Wood (aka fractal kitty). I love photography, birdwatching, fiber arts, gardening, running, and hiking.
I am a math and creative coding enthusiast and spend a lot of time at the intersections of math and art. I love to make interactive poetry and coded poems.
What hardware do you use?
I have a Voyager named Wanda, and she is hooked into whatever Mac I am working on, from a 13” Air to a mini with a Studio Display.
My mouse is a Logitech Lift. I use my iPad a lot for art and ideation.
Next to my desk I also keep an AxiDraw and Cricut for pen-plotting and a sewing machine for bringing ideas and code to cloth. I use a Bambu Lab printer to prototype in 3D in the room adjacent to my office.
And what software?
I use Panic Nova, Procreate, Affinity Design, Notion, Obsidian, Safari, Logic Pro, and sometimes Adobe products. A lot of what I do is in-browser.
What’s your keyboard setup like? Do you use a custom layout or custom keycaps?
My config isn’t anything special—I have some colors that I started with to help me remember where things are, and it has just kinda stuck.
I recently added a couple of shortcuts. When I hold down V—screen snippet, L—launchpad, and a QW combo when I want to shut things down. I use the caps it came with.
What would be your dream setup?
I really have what I need. I work from home, so my Voyager was a must for ergo—same with a lot of the other equipment. I’m very content.
