Annie Vela
Community Center Director of OperationsWho are you, and what do you do? What do you like to do outside of work?
My name is Annie, and I work for the Dylan Jude Harrell Community Center as director of operations. This is a local nonprofit serving the county and neighboring counties where I reside.
We are a relatively small staff, so many of us wear different hats at work! Our primary goal is to build community through after-school and family programming, and through our daycare/preschool. We are working towards constructing a permanent facility that will strengthen and expand our programs.
Outside of work, I love to spend time outdoors with my dogs and husband and experiment in the kitchen both in culinary and patisserie. I enjoy arts and hobby-illustrated a children’s book for a self-published author.
What hardware do you use?
I am a plain Jane! I use a standard MacBook Air at work and have a MacBook Pro personally.
And what software?
Once again, a pretty plain user. All the standard macOS applications, but I rely much more heavily professionally on G Suite. I use Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop as well.
What’s your keyboard setup like? Do you use a custom layout or custom keycaps?
As you’ve gathered, I’m probably not the typical audience for this type of keyboard! I have basically the standard setup and have a minimally custom layout to keep my frequently used keys close to me. I use the lighting to distinguish the ten-key layer (which I adore) and I was most drawn to this keyboard to help my posture and my hand/wrist health!
What would be your dream setup?
Honestly, at this time in my technological understanding, I think the setup I have is exactly what I need. I’m only just beginning to see the options that are out there for customizing but currently I love the setup I have, even if it’s a bit boring for now!
